Teapots A-Go-Go 2006

MudFire Gallery welcomes back the teapot with "Teapots-A-Go-Go 2006", our third bi-annual gallery exhibit and sale of dainty, gorgeous, eccentric, frightening, sublime and otherwise wickedly-cool teapots.

This huge multi-artist show opens on April 15 and continues through May 8. An opening party will be held on April 15 from 5p-10p.

Kyle Carpenter

The teapot is the most expressive, inspiring and challenging of functional forms. The artist must carefully balance their creative ambitions with the technical requirements of thoughtfully integrating handle, spout, body and lid. The teapot is an invitation to experiment, and an important proving ground for contemporary studio ceramicists.

The goal of our curators and jurors is to celebrate the diversity of the contemporary teapot. We will bring you teapots gentle, insouciant, staunch, wild, formal, rustic, elegant, and playful. And maybe, just maybe, amongst them you'll find the perfect teapot.

Sooyeon Kim

For the first time, MudFire invited other local fine craft galleries and clay venues to participate with their own teapot shows and programming. The unique result is The Atlanta Teapot Festival...the only such event in the country. We expect teapot lovers from all over the country to attend, so don't miss something this special in your own backyard!

Two $250 awards will be juried by teapot master Rick Berman of Atlanta. One for Best Sculptural and one for Best Functional. Awards will be announced April 24th.

Our Teapot Artists

Teapots-A-Go-Go will include the work of over 100 artists. We have invited nationally and regionally prominent artists to participate. We will also be jurying submissions from all over the continent, including a strong showing from local potters. The many artists of MudFire Clayworks will also be submitting teapots.
