Tammy Marinuzzi - Secrets 2013
May 24-June 24, 2013
MudFire is excited to welcome Tammy Marinuzzi for her first solo show in our gallery. Tammy's whimsical characters capture her observations of the human sprit and everyday expressions of emotion. These wonderful human and animal creatures are also functional - great jars for tucking away something special, a gift, some candy, or a secret! This show features jars with secrets collected from MudFire, other studios, and a scattering of people from around the country. Tammy got over 100 secrets back and each of these special vessels holds a secret inside. The secret is only revealed to the buyer once the piece is purchased. How delightful is that?
We'll kick off the exhibit with a celebration and artist reception on Friday May 24th, 2013 from 5:00 - 9:00 pm. Our neighbors Atlanta Hot Glass are also having an opening the same night - secrets, glass & clay - what could be better?
Work will post in preview mode on May 17, and will be available for online purchase starting at 9:00pm on Friday May 24th.

More About Tammy Marinuzzi - Secrets 2013
About a year ago Tammy had an idea for a show based around secrets. The idea was to make containers for holding secrets. The inspiration came from hearing private stories while teaching in the classroom so Tammy decided to start collecting secrets! It is funny isn't it how intimate things are shared in public settings?
We love that the secrets contained in these vessels are only revealed once the piece is purchased. Tammy's concept is based on the premise that we do not always know what we are getting into when we start a relationship. Each container, just like each of us has something inside, it might be remarkably good, or it might be extraordinarily harmful, whatever it is, it is hidden inside and is not readily revealed. Eventually it all comes out. We are all human and, we all have greed, lust, jealousy, fear, love, and joy. The containers will surely be reflective of the secret inside, and just like in real life the buyer has to be observant
