Georgia potter Christine Bentley has brought together a group of artists from in and around Athens, Georgia for a group show of functional pottery in a variety of styles. Joining Christine for the show are Brooke Cassady, Carter Gillies and David Morgan.
The exhibit runs June 10 through July 8, of 2006. An opening night artist reception and gala celebration will be held Saturday, June 10, from 5 pm to 9 pm.
Christine Bentley has been throwing pots for over ten years. She is a full time studio artist involved in both ceramics and gold leaf custom art framing. Christine is inspired by simplicity, functionality, and the colors of nature. She also is a resident artist and instructor at MudFire Clayworks. Christine works primarily in porcelain.





Brooke Cassady earned an BA in Art History from Boston University and is currently at the University of Georgia in a Post-Baccalaureate program studying with Ted Saupe. She has attended numerous workshops including two fall concentration sessions at Penland School of Arts and Crafts. In addition to her studies and time in the studio, she also teaches ceramics classes at Good Dirt in Athens.




Carter Gillies has a BS in Anthropology from Connecticut College, and came to Athens in 1989 to pursue a PhD in Philosophy but got sidetracked by clay. He received his MFA in ceramics from University of Georgia studying with Ron Meyers, Andy Nasisse, Linda Christiansen, Gina Bobrowski and Michael Simon. He is a full time studio potter.




David Morgan apprenticed with Georgia potter Charles Counts in 1976-1977 and has been a full time studio potter since 1980. He has also attended workshops at Haystack Mountain School, Penland School of Arts and Crafts, and John C. Campbell Folk School.
