Rick Berman: The Teapot

At our first workshop at the new MudFire Clayworks in Decatur, Atlanta artist Rick Berman spent the day onstage. Rick is a great entertainer, and we spent the day watching him throw and assemble teapots. He also delivered a slideshow, show some of his signature glazing techniques, and we watched his movie "The Village Potters of Ahmednagar" about his trips to a 7,000 year old pottery in India. Participants were also encouraged to bring teapots for review and discussion.

We did a half day version of this workshop in 2003, and it really wasn't enough time, so we brought Rick back for a full day. Here are some pictures from the original workshop taken by studio member Andy Little.

Please keep in mind that the pictures below are in our Brookhaven studio...this workshop took place in our new super-deluxe event space in Decatur.
