Mark Issenberg
Ash Glaze Workshop

We have run this workshop twice, and everyone had such a great time that we agreed to repeat the workshop each spring and fall.

Our next date will be a Sunday in October, with hiking, camping and the dinner out to take place the night before. The fee is $75 for MudFire members, and $95 otherwise. This includes the workshop and lunch on Sunday. Other activities are optional and at your expense.

Join us as master potter Mark Issenberg opens his studio for a relaxing and entertaining hands on workshop...and a lovely day in the mountains.

We start with a tour of Mark's mountain property, mix ash glazes under Mark's direction, and participants then glaze their bisqueware, and we load the kiln. In addition to the workshop, many of the participants stay the night in a local hotel or camping on Mark's property, and we have a big bonfire, fun group dinner out at a nearby four star restaraunt, and the opportunity for an amazing hike in Cloudland Canyon Park.

Many thanks to MudFire member and workshop participant Gary Miller for providing the following pictures...

Several participants camped out on Mark's property the night before and of the workshop. There were many fine campsites available in an open field, in clearings under the trees, or right on the bluff with a view to Alabama.

Mark collects and renovates tractors...and this was his newest acquisition.

A sturdy picnic table served as the preliminary glazing area for dipping base glazes and interior glazes.

The kiln was loaded late in the afternoon, right before cleanup and heading out for a great dinner.

Mark unloading the kiln, so many beautiful pots!

All our beauties spread out for packing. The pieces were returned to Atlanta several days later for pickup at MudFire.
