Luba Sharapan Artist Bio

Luba Sharapan las lived in Moscow, Vienna, Rome, Rochester, Washington DC, London, and (finally) Atlanta. She encountered clay early and pursued it off and on her whole life. Her education in clay has been self-directed, and she has immense gratitude for the countless teachers she has learned from over the years in school, community art centers, and clay art workshops.

She graduated from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and embarked on ten years in various professional/creative roles. Clay was the thing that kept her going during these years languishing in Office Space. In 2002, she resigned from her position as Partner at J. Walter Thompson, then the worlds largest advertising agency. Determined to follow her passion for clay, she started her own business -- MudFire.

She experiments ruthlessly, working in series as she explores this fascinating medium. For the "Polka Dots" show, she has a very special project she has begun.
