More About Heavenly Vessels
"In many ways, the work from both studios has striking similarities. Classically elegant vessels, subtle atmospheric variations, incredible craftsmanship, captivatingly sumptuous surfaces, and a hint of smoke are all obvious parallels. They make the pots work together, despite the fact that the artists are using extremely different processes and materials to achieve radically different surface effects," comments Erik Haagensen, MudFire Gallery curator. "I've displayed their work together in my home for years, and always enjoyed pondering the similarities and differences and bewitching charm of each. Why not make a show of it?"
"Heavenly Vessels" offers a chance to appreciate the Whalen's warm, earthy, subdued palette displayed alongside Jerry's joyful exploration of daring color. Both studios use painstaking technical processes to achieve a spontaneous beauty unique to each piece. Prepare to be mesmerized!
