MudFire's new Decatur pottery center and clay studio recently opened on Jannuary 15, 2005. If you are looking for beginner pottery lessons for wheel or sculpture, or you are an experienced clay artist looking for studio rental, we have a great deal for you!
If you've visited our studio in Brookhaven, what can you expect to be different in Decatur? We'll have...
- 3 huge raku kilns
- spray booth
- reduction kiln
- professional photography
- soda kiln (oh so soon)
- low fire options
- expanded lounge
- party deck
- new sculpture equipment
- double the studio area
- more inspiration (gallery, residents, workshops)
- expanded glaze portfolio
- personal clay storage areas
- free, well-lit parking
- potluck dinner every Friday!

We want you to come here whenever the muse strikes you. Although there are no scheduled classes at MudFire, beginners are welcome. Staff are on hand to provide one-on-one handbuilding and throwing guidance as part of your membership. If your schedule changes week to week, you can adjust and not have to miss out on your pottery fun.
We also host local and nationally known artists in a variety of workshops. These workshops are ideal for home potters looking to gain inspiration and new techniques, and for networking and meeting other area ceramicists.
