Bily Brown Artist Statement
I remembered a discussion I had with my dad back when I was young while working in the studio tonight.
The topic was on how accurate and precise machines could be; while as a young kid I was fascinated by the story of John Henry.
My dad would tell me that machines could manufacture a piece of equipment so precise that the discrepancy between the pieces made were less then the width of the hair on the top of your head!
I would argue blindly that humans were just as good.
I have now realized that, no, humans are no where near as accurate or precise as machines.
I have come to a thought tonight, while working at my studio, that both my dad and my younger self would whole heartedly agree to.
"Though a machine can make a very accurate and precise object, there is no more beautiful mistake than one made by the human hand."
