More About Lineal
The artists participating in LINEAL bring a variety of sculptural and functional artworks demonstrating and decorated with strong line. The primary medium for all works is clay, with a variety of firing processes including raku, soda, and electric/oxidation. The overall aesthetic for the show is a clean, tight, geometric modernism frequently tempered with Asian influences.
"MudFire Gallery is dedicated to bringing a wide variety of contemporary clay work to Atlanta's attention. The LINEAL show is a chance for Atlantans to see clay presented in a strikingly fresh manner, breaking through limitations of the common conception," notes Erik Haagensen, who both curates and participates in the show. "We have assembled a great group of Atlanta artists, and may be adding a few special surprise artists as we get closer to August."
Lineal is an English language word with essentially the same meaning as the word linear. When printed in all caps it is strikingly more LINEAL than LINEAR, which ends with an annoyingly curvy character.
